UNESCO ANNOUNCES ASIA-PACIFIC HERITAGE CONSERVATION AWARD

Bangkok, November 19 1999- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will recognise private-sector efforts in conservation and restoration of historic structures and buildings in the Asia-Pacific region in a new heritage award.

 

 

UNESCO HERITAGE CONSERVATION AWARD ENTRIES DEADLINE 30 APRIL

Bangkok, March 8, 2000 – Entries will be accepted until April 30 for the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization said today.
The awards will recognise private-sector efforts in conservation and restoration of historic structures and buildings in the Asia-Pacific region that are more than 50 years old and have been restored within the last five years.

Penang Mansion wins inaugural Asia-Pacific Heritage Conservation Award

Bangkok, 26 September 2000 – Restoration of the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia has been selected as the “Most Excellent Project” from among the entries in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2000 Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation, the UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific announced today. Other winning projects were the Restoration of Chanwar Palkhiwalon-ki-Haveli, Amber, India and the Hoi An Town Preservation Cooperation Project, Viet Nam, which were selected as “Excellent Projects”. Five additional projects were recognized as “Outstanding Projects”.

 

 

AMBER PROJECT WINS HERITAGE CONSERVATION AWARD

Bangkok, 4 October 2000 – The project that restored the crumbling Chanwar Palkhiwalon-ki-Haveli in Amber has been awarded one of the top prizes in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2000 Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation. The UNESCO awards recognize the best efforts and contributions of private-sector individuals and organizations in conserving and restoring structures with heritage value.

 

 

CHEONG FATT TZE MANSION AWARD PRESENTED

Penang, 7 January, 2001 – UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific, Dr. Richard Engelhardt, presented the top award in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation to Laurence Loh last night in a ceremony held at the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, the winning project.
