Thematic Policy Research

Inorder to complement the ongoing efforts of UNESCO Bangkok, UNICEF-EAPRO and ARNEC to strengthen the regional knowledge base on ECCE for evidence-based advocacy and policy development at country level, the two agencies agreed to take on policy research, in collaboration with ARNEC, on the two interrelated themes on the quality of ECCE:

    (i) ECCE teacher status and qualifications

    (ii) Quality standards for community-based ECCE and parenting education programmes

This regional desk review report presents a review of policies relating to ECCE teacher status and community-based ECCE programmes catering for young children across the Asia-Pacific region.
