- Open University of Japan
The Open University of Japan was founded in 1983 as the primary university for lifelong education with the mission to provide excellent and innovative higher education to people all over Japan using the techniques of distance learning. The University offers educational programs through its own TV and radio channels via terrestrial and satellite broadcast, and an increasing number of programs are provided through the Internet. The Fundamental Law of Education was compiled as the basis for postwar education in Japan, and was enacted in 1947. The law stipulated the basic principles of education, providing equal opportunity for education and compulsory education to be provided free of charge for a period of nine years. It is a law that forms the basis of all education-related laws, including the School Education Law and the Social Education Law. - SchoolNet Japan
SchoolNet Japan is an organization of educators who are interested in the development and utilization of the Internet in primary and secondary education. Its Japanese name is "Tokai SchoolNet Kenkyukai."
