- A Pilot in integrating Radio and the Internet Kothmale Community Radio
This project combines radio and the Internet to address the problem of rural access to computers and connectivity. The station has six permanent staff, including a station manager, two technicians, two laborers, and one broadcaster. There are 15 relief announcers from the local area and some 20 regular volunteers. The radio team browses the Net for information requested by the audience, translates it into the local languages and then broadcasts it in a daily programme. - ICT application for Non-formal Education Projects
While more children are going to school than ever before, many drop out before grade five of primary school or graduate without mastering even a minimum set of literacy skills. In many countries of the Asia-Pacific region there is a lack of coordination and support for the education of these children who drop out of school, and little provision of literacy and continuing education for youth and adults.
